Rowntree CIC Scottish Division.
At Rowntree CIC Scotland Division, our vision is to strengthen communities by giving young people across Caithness and the Highlands opportunities to participate, grow, and succeed through local sport.
We believe in expanding opportunity through inclusive youth sport programmes that encourage teamwork, confidence, wellbeing, and community.
Supporting Youth Sport In Caithness And The Highlands

The Scottish Division is currently focused on the restoration and community activation of the former Bridge Street Free Church in Wick, Caithness — a Category B Listed building on the North Coast 500 — and on grassroots youth sport and community development across the Highlands.
Operating as part of Rowntree Equine Therapy CIC, the Scottish division focuses on investing in young people through sport by encouraging participation, teamwork, health and confidence.
The Scottish division focuses on funding and supporting youth sports programmes.
Our aim is to ensure young people in rural communities have access to opportunities that inspire them, support their wellbeing, and help them thrive.
Our Scottish office is based in Wick, Caithness, providing a local hub for youth sport development across the region. From this base we aim to work with schools, sports clubs and community organisations across Caithness and potentially the wider Highland region as the programme develops.
Rowntree CIC Scotland aims to support the growth of youth sport by providing practical support and opportunities for young people.
Our goals include:
-
Supporting youth sports clubs and teams
-
Providing financial assistance for equipment and facilities
-
Encouraging participation for both girls and boys
-
Helping remove barriers that prevent young people from taking part in sport
-
Promoting health, wellbeing and community involvement
Through grassroots sport we hope to give young people confidence, discipline, teamwork and opportunity.
Why Youth Sport Matters?
Participation in sport provides many long-term benefits for young people, including:
Improved physical health
Teamwork and social development
Personal confidence and resilience
Positive focus and life skills
Community pride and belonging
In rural areas such as Caithness, many sports clubs rely heavily on volunteers and community support. Rowntree CIC Scotland hopes to strengthen and support these vital local initiatives.
Rowntree CIC Scotland strongly believes in equal opportunities in sport.
We aim to support:
-
Girls’ football and other sports programmes
-
Boys’ grassroots teams
-
Mixed youth sports activities
-
Community coaching and training initiatives
-
Local tournaments and development programmes
Encouraging participation from a young age helps young people develop confidence, leadership and lifelong healthy habits.
Our Future Vision.
As the Rowntree CIC Scotland Division continues to grow, our vision is to expand opportunities for young people through sport across Caithness and the wider Highlands. We aim to support more youth teams, work closely with schools, sports clubs and community organisations, and develop sustainable programmes that provide long-term benefits for young people in rural communities.
By strengthening grassroots sport and encouraging community collaboration, our goal is to help build healthier, stronger communities, giving young people the chance to develop confidence, teamwork and life skills through sport.
We welcome partnerships with youth sports clubs, schools, community groups, volunteers and local supporters who share our commitment to creating positive opportunities for young people.
Together, we can help ensure that children and young people across Caithness and the Highlands have access to sport, opportunity and a brighter future.
